Landon's World

An original novel by Alexander Jacobs

Plans set in motion hundreds of years ago approach their climax, and twelve year old Landon is tossed into the center of a struggle among those who helped shape his world. After discovering an illustration of himself etched into a page torn from an ancient tome, Landon knows deep down that he won't be satisfied until he can read the rest of the book. Together with a red-haired girl named Leyna, Landon sets out to recover the book.  But is Landon really acting of his own free will, or is he simply a puppet in a much larger battle spanning both time and space?

Chapter Two

Read on to find out how the Alchemist's mysterious plan for Landon has gone up in a poof of smoke.  Not all is bad though, for Landon meets Leyna in the forest.  This red-haired girl might seem plain at first, but you can bet that there's a whole lot more to her than meets the eye.

Chapter One

I contemplated turning the first chapter into a prologue (something I still might do), but for now, it stands as its own short chapter. Here, we meet Landon and get our first taste of the Perianth Empire, which we'll later learn is but one of the five branches of the world.

You can read it here.  Or, if you prefer, you may download it here.

An Introduction

The basic idea behind Landon's World has been bouncing around in my head for a couple of years, but it wasn't until around a year ago that I seriously put finger to keyboard and began the process transforming thought into story.  The book is aimed at the 13-23 year old age group, but the story is multi-layered enough for an adult to enjoy.  My favorite books are those whose entertainment value and meaning transform as you age, and I kept that in mind during the planning stages of the book.

Here's a quick summary of the plot:

After discovering an illustration of himself etched into a page torn from an ancient tome, Landon knows deep down that he won't be satisfied until he can read the rest of the book.
