Part 2

Tane's plan for Leo becomes less certain when the woman Mer catches the pair trying to escape in a Ford Focus EV.  Leo still doesn't really know what he's got caught up in, but he's about to find out in the next installment.

An Aside: Visiting the Cottage

Visiting Leo and the TWiT cottage was a far more rewarding experience than I could have imagined.  Despite the fact that both myself and Josh were acting like total goofballs due to being starstruck, we both had an amazing time.  I really look up to Leo as someone who's managed to work himself into a position where he's succeeding at doing exactly what he wants to do, and actually seeing the TWiT operation only increased my level of respect.

Leo's a celebrity--a minor celebrity in the scheme of things, but a celebrity nonetheless.  How many celebrities let you come and hang out with them for an hour?  Not many, I'd say.  Of these few, how many come across as completely friendly, good individuals?  I'd wager even fewer.  Leo let us take a picture with him, graciously accepted my gift, and walked us out the door while being interesting and engaged the entire time.

There's no getting around it: Leo Laporte's one cool geek!

On a partially related note, I'll be posting the second part to the TWiT Army story on Sunday around the time TWiT airs!

Fan Fiction

Although I've never written any kind of fan fiction before, Leo's TWiT network seemed like a natural fit. I wanted to create a fictional storyline compelling enough for a non-Leo fan to enjoy while providing additional insight to those who, like me, listen to hours of Leo's podcasts...err...netcasts...each week.  Leo and many of the other TWiTs (often through Audible advertisements) share their love of science fiction with TWiT listeners.  While there's a bit of fiction talk here and there, Leo doesn't have a podcast focusing on fiction and how the world of contemporary technology ties into the world of science fiction.  I thought writing a TWiT-centric story would be a cool way to meet other sci-fi enthusiasts in the audience as well as potentially contribute a bit of entertainment value to the TWiT community.

So, if you know what I've been babbling on about above, I think you might enjoy the story.  If not, I'd encourage you to read the story anyway, as I think it stands on its own as a gripping sci-fi tale.
